Objective
Sparkasse, Europe's largest banking network, sought to engage young audiences through immersive entertainment rather than traditional advertising. The campaign aimed to demonstrate that finance and saving money aren't scary, positioning the bank as part of young people's cultural world through a genuinely engaging gaming experience.
Solution
A fully-featured horror video game developed within Fortnite Creative mode, featuring protagonist Berta (a piggy bank) evading antagonist Tilda armed with a hammer. The first-person gameplay combines puzzle-solving with over 10 hours of content, drawing inspiration from Resident Evil and Alien Isolation. Rated USK 16+, free-to-play, launching August 14, 2025. Created by Jung von Matt Sports (agency), Beyond Creative (game studio), and Passion Pictures (animation). Marketing featured influencers HandOfBlood, Gnu, Fibii, Mahluna, and Sev (combined 12+ million followers). A Halloween multiplayer mode was added, enabling 4-versus-1 gameplay.
Results
The campaign was shortlisted for the 8th Hashtag Sports Awards (2026) and involved collaboration with known streamers. Specific engagement metrics and financial results were not publicly disclosed.
