Objective

Red Bull built Pinball Racing to give fans of Scuderia Toro Rosso, its own Formula 1 team, a light, ongoing reason to engage with the team online rather than only on race weekends — enough that the game ran from a Red Bull web address instead of the team's own site. Per the project's own framing, the brief was simple: let a visitor test both their reflexes and how well they actually know the team. On at least one market the game was wrapped in a competition with a public leaderboard, turning that one-off distraction into something worth coming back to.

Solution

Players open the game straight from a Red Bull link, no download, on desktop or phone, and land on a pinball table dressed in Scuderia Toro Rosso's livery. From there it plays like pinball: launch the ball, work the flippers, keep it alive, chase a high score. Mixed into the round are prompts tied to the team, so racking up points takes a steady hand as much as some actual knowledge of Toro Rosso. On the French competition build, finishing a round dropped the player onto a leaderboard against other entrants, alongside a separate screen spelling out how to enter and the contest rules.

How it plays

4 steps
  1. 1

The player opens the game directly at a Red Bull web address (pinballracing.redbull.com/home.php) and arrives at a Scuderia Toro Rosso-branded start screen; it runs in the browser on desktop and mobile with no install or app store.

  2. 2

The core mechanic is a pinball table: the player works the ball and tries to rack up points, the dexterity half of the challenge.

  3. 3

Play also draws on knowledge of Scuderia Toro Rosso, so scoring well depends on team trivia as well as ball skill.

  4. 4

On the French Red Bull deployment, results feed a public Classement (leaderboard), alongside separate Comment Participer (how to enter) and Règlement (rules) pages, framing the score as an entry into a competition.
