Objective
Philips needed to promote its new CitiScape headphones to a younger demographic (18-24 year-olds) and establish the brand as an enabler of superior audio experiences. Partnering with Swiss Lips, an electronic indie band, the campaign positioned high-quality headphones as essential for appreciating music in new creative ways, blending product marketing with music fandom and interactive entertainment.
Solution
An interactive 16-bit arcade-style driving game (reminiscent of Out Run) where players control Swiss Lips' lead singer Sam rescuing the character Carolyn from the 'Flame Gang.' The core mechanic: every player action—turns, obstacles hit, power-ups collected, enemies destroyed—directly modifies the accompanying music track in real-time, generating thousands of potential song remixes and video endings. The game featured seven distinct audio worlds, with all sounds originally created by Swiss Lips for the experience. Results could be shared via a social media-powered leaderboard. Built as a web-based interactive music video game in collaboration with Noisey (Vice's music channel).
