Objective
Netflix sought to drive engagement and cultural momentum for Squid Game Season 2's launch in January 2025 by partnering with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. The crossover leveraged the show's massive audience and game mechanics as a co-promotional vehicle, immersing players in the show's universe while expanding Season 2's reach into gaming's core demographic.
Solution
A limited-time event (January 3–24, 2025, later extended to January 28) brought Squid Game IP into CoD's multiplayer, zombies, and battle royale modes. Multiplayer introduced 'Red Light Green Light' mode with stadium-based evasion gameplay and 'Pentathlon' with rotating challenges. Warzone's 'Squid Game on Urzikstan' featured squad-based survival challenges. Players unlocked free cosmetics via the event pass (Player 006 skin), with a $4.99 premium tier offering the Front Man operator, Player 115 skin, masked guard variants, weapon blueprints (High Authority XM4), and a Cleaver melee weapon themed to the show's aesthetic.
