Objective
Mora, a Belgian frozen snacks manufacturer, sought to create an engaging, entertaining campaign around the cultural tradition of frituur (chip shop) visits during the end-of-year period. Rather than a conventional promotion, the brand aimed to build memorable consumer experiences that would drive engagement and repeat visits to participating locations.
Solution
The campaign deployed QR-code-activated arcade games at frituren across Belgium and the Netherlands. Customers purchasing Mora Viandel products received flyers with unique QR codes linking to a browser-based game requiring no downloads. The gameplay mechanic tasked players with catching falling snacks using a digital fryer basket—three missed items ended the round. Built on Phaser, the game featured anti-cheat server-side validation and a public leaderboard with moderated nicknames. Each QR code granted one legitimate play attempt, ensuring fairness. Three Nintendo Switch 2 consoles were awarded as monthly prizes from December 2025 through February 2026.
Results
As of January 16th, the Mora Snack Catching campaign reached 6,500+ players with 7,000+ QR code scans. The highest recorded score was 9,351 points.
