Objective

Greenpeace Brazil aimed to raise environmental awareness and inspire climate activism among a young audience through an engaging gaming experience. The campaign sought to connect players' desire to make environmental impact with interactive gameplay, positioning environmental protection as both urgent and achievable through individual and collective action.

Solution

A cooperative multiplayer strategy game inspired by the classic board game War, where 2–4 players collaborate online to address environmental crises rather than compete against each other. Launched in two formats: a digital version (June 2008) playable online and a physical board game manufactured from recycled paper and wood, distributed to schools across Brazil. The game emphasized cooperation and coordination as core mechanics, allowing players to adopt activist roles and collectively work toward solutions to planetary environmental threats.

Results

The Greenpeace Weather project earned a Bronze Lion award at Cannes Lions Festival in 2008.
