Objective
To mark its 10th anniversary of supporting vulnerable teenagers across Russia, the Otkryvaya Gorizonty Foundation launched an interactive web game to engage audiences emotionally and convert attention into charitable donations. The foundation works with teens from children's homes, boarding schools, and difficult life circumstances across 50+ Russian regions, aiming to help them develop independence and adult life skills while finding their first safe employment.
Solution
The foundation created 'Устраивайся!' (Get Hired), an interactive web-based quest game set in the "House of Independence" with seven locations, rendered in a bright, hand-drawn "pencil" art style and adapted for both mobile and desktop. Players explore environments and collect ten hidden objects, each symbolizing essential adult skills—time management, financial literacy, household management, career guidance, and employment. Each of the seven locations is tied to one of the foundation's real beneficiaries, whose story unfolds through first-person text cards and short video clips; for example, the "Handling Money" location teaches budgeting and saving for a vacation, while the "Work" location covers career orientation and workplace adaptation. Each found item carries a symbolic price (ranging from 200 to 5,000 rubles), added to a running total in the player's donation cart. Players can then choose to donate the whole set or individual items, opting for a one-time or recurring donation. On the closing screen, the foundation thanks players and explains how contributions are used—for housing, education, and employment support. The game is accessible via the foundation's website and designed for players of all ages.
Results
In 2025, the 'Устраивайся' employment initiative engaged 1,116 teenagers, with 947 completing professional trials in Rostic's and 200 securing their first jobs; fifty-one participants joined Rostic's workforce, with 20 working during peak summer season. Specific metrics for web game engagement and funds raised were not publicly disclosed.
