Objective

Citroën had been backing the WTCC touring car championship since 2014 and wanted that sponsorship to translate into direct fan engagement — introducing its drivers and its C-Elysée WTCC car to a wider audience ahead of the French round and rolling the activation out across other markets on the calendar.

Solution

The player lands on a promo site that first scrolls through a quick introduction to the Citroën Racing drivers and the C-Elysée WTCC car, then moves into the race itself. The only control is the scroll wheel or a finger swipe: the faster the player scrolls, the faster their car accelerates down the track against the factory team's drivers. The goal is simply to cross the finish line with the best possible time, and the session ends there with a result to beat. It played the same way on desktop, tablet, or phone, and top scorers went into a draw for VIP passes to see the French round in person; the format was later reused for other stops on the season.

How it plays

7 steps
  1. 1

The player opens the Citroën Racing promo site on desktop, tablet, or smartphone and lands on a start screen challenging them to out-race the factory team.

  2. 2

Scrolling down through an intro sequence introduces the Citroën Racing drivers and the Citroën C-Elysée WTCC car before the race itself begins.

  3. 3

The race opens on the starting grid, with the player's car lined up alongside the Citroën Racing team cars.

  4. 4

The only control is scrolling: turning the mouse wheel on desktop or swiping quickly on a touchscreen, with scroll speed directly driving the car's speed on track.

  5. 5

The player races head-to-head against the factory Citroën Racing team, aiming to keep pace and pass their cars before the finish line.

  6. 6

Each run ends with a recorded finish time, faster and more sustained scrolling producing a better time, and players can replay to beat their own best.

  7. 7

Top times enter a prize draw for VIP passes to a real-world WTCC race weekend.
