Objective
WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio partnered with creative studio Replica to launch an interactive branded experience tied to the animated series "Rey Mysterio vs The Darkness." The campaign aimed to deepen fan engagement by creating a participatory, immersive digital experience that connected wrestling entertainment with interactive gaming mechanics, allowing fans to co-create their own luchador character and become part of Rey's story universe.
Solution
Craft your Champion is an interactive web-based adventure hosted at booyaka.me where players create their own luchador wrestler character and participate in action-oriented gameplay battling supernatural forces alongside Rey Mysterio. The experience combines character creation mechanics with narrative storytelling elements rooted in the Rey Mysterio vs The Darkness animated universe. Built as a web application with 3D graphics, the platform uses a blue (#266194) and red (#ff0046) color palette and falls into the Games & Entertainment, Mobile & Apps, and Web & Interactive categories. The project was created by the creative studio Replica in collaboration with Eder Anaya, Ricardo Mendieta (Head of Technology), and carolina_moura.
Results
The project received an Awwwards Honorable Mention (June 27, 2024), with community reviewers awarding scores as high as 9.60 out of 10 across design, usability, creativity, and content criteria.
