Objective
Bagelstein, a 72-location European bagel restaurant chain serving roughly 3 million bagels a year, needed to drive awareness and trial of their new limited-time "Crazy Menu" while increasing store visits and transaction values. Known for playful, humor-driven branding, the chain uses seasonal menus to create FOMO and test new items, with top performers earning a permanent spot on the year-round menu. The brand sought an engaging, memorable promotion that would differentiate them in a competitive market, motivate customers to try the new offerings, and reward them in a way that reflected Bagelstein's playful identity.
Solution
Drimify created a customized slot-machine game called "The BIG Game" integrated into the promotion. Customers who purchased from the "Crazy Menu" and spent a minimum of $10 received a redemption code for one game play. The slot machine featured 10,000 winning combinations ranging from individual items (drinks, desserts, sides) to complete meals, plus a grand prize of a weekend trip to New York City, a nod to the city's status as "the bagel capital of the world." The single grand prize generated buzz and encouraged potential diners to try the new menu for a shot at winning it. The mechanic directly tied purchase behavior to game access, incentivizing customers to spend the $10 minimum and engage with the new menu items.
Results
The campaign achieved a 79% customer engagement rate, with 8 out of 10 participants making purchases and redeeming game codes. Thousands of participants were rewarded with prizes, and Bagelstein reported a major boost in sales across locations.
