Objective
The U.S. Air Force sought to attract high-performing recruits by showcasing the cognitive demands of military service. E.C.H.O. (Enhanced Cognitive Human Ops) was developed to demonstrate the mental skills required in the Air Force and help prospective Airmen understand the psychological demands of the job through interactive gaming.
Solution
A cross-platform gaming experience featuring three mini-games that assess six cognitive skills: reaction time, awareness, composure, and problem-solving. Players receive a personalized cognitive score and career-path recommendations based on their performance. The experience was deployed on desktop, mobile, and VR devices, with plans for a mobile tour trailer to bring the VR experience to audiences nationwide.
Results
Within its first month, E.C.H.O. attracted over 68,000 players who spent an average of 7 minutes and 26 seconds engaging with the experience, and won a Webby Award for Best Use of Video or Moving Image.
