Objective

Uniroyal, a tire manufacturer, launched an interactive racing game to strengthen its online marketing presence and connect with automotive enthusiasts. The advergame was designed to reinforce the brand's association with high-performance tires and driving performance.

Solution

A realistic web-based racing game developed by German agency WM Team, released on December 25, 2004. Players compete in a 3-lap track challenge using keyboard controls (arrow keys for steering, acceleration, and braking). The game featured high-quality graphics with realistic details including simulated LCD dashboard displays, and was localized in five languages. Players could register accounts to have their lap times recorded on a global high score leaderboard. The game was built in Flash using ActionScript and André Michelle's GamePackage tiling engine.
