Objective

As part of Ralph Lauren's 14-year partnership as Wimbledon's official outfitter, the brand created an engaging arcade game to build excitement around the tournament. The game was designed for fans during the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, culminating in a gaming tournament hosted at Ralph Lauren's Regent Street flagship store in London on the men's final day (July 14, 2019).

Solution

An endless-runner arcade game developed in WebGL with PixiJS technology where players select either a ball boy or ball girl character to collect tennis balls while navigating obstacles like umpire chairs and player benches. The game featured a leaderboard system for competitive play and social challenge mechanics allowing players to compete against friends. The tournament event at Regent Street brought together 20 contestants including three professional esports competitors, competing for prizes including a Polo Ralph Lauren wardrobe. The game utilized gesture-based interactions and 3D graphics elements.

Results

The campaign received Honorable Mention recognition from Awwwards on August 7, 2019.
