Objective
Froot Loops needed more than a commercial to keep young fans engaged between cereal-box sightings — a game world built around its own toucan mascot, Sam, that kids would come back to on their own. Framed by the developer as advergaming, the project treats play itself as the marketing, not an ad wrapped around a prize.
Solution
Three separate browser games, each built in Flash with 3D touches, drop the player into Sam the Toucan's world rather than a single sprawling adventure. In Froot Raiders: Relics of the Flavor and its sequel Froot Raiders, the player takes on a treasure-hunt style run, tracking down flavor-themed relics scattered through the level. The Greedy Queen pits the player against the antagonist of the Froot Loops universe, a scheming queen from the brand's mid-2000s ad world. Beyond that setup, the surviving case-study images don't show the actual screens or controls, so the moment-to-moment play can't be reconstructed with confidence.
