Objective

Buratino is a 2026 Russian musical fantasy film with a budget of ₽1.3 billion. To drive engagement ahead of the January 1, 2026 theatrical release and incentivize ticket-raffle participation, the production group partnered with VK to create an immersive interactive experience that positioned the film's narrative and characters at the center of audience engagement.

Solution

A VK Mini-app was developed featuring eight sequential mini-games aligned with the film's storyline, allowing players to advance through character scenarios and earn in-game coins—each coin representing one entry in the prize draw. Players started with a brief onboarding that outlined the rules and prize list. A referral mechanics system awarded bonus coins for inviting friends and completing missions such as creating a child profile, and players could replay mini-games to improve their results and collect more coins. The platform included three unique emoji-based achievement ranks to reward milestone progression, with results and status shareable on social media for extra engagement. Integration with VK Store offered limited merchandise, while a partnership with Russia's Central Children's Store created immersive "fairy-tale street" physical experiences. VK also hosted a pre-premiere event at its Moscow office where cast members Fyodor Bondarchuk, Vitaliya Kornienko, Alexander Yatsenko, and Mark Eidelstein met with VK users ahead of the release. The prize pool included tablets, headphones, and other consumer items.
