The project aimed to leverage Ovechkin's cultural prominence and sports fandom to drive brand engagement and reach new audiences through an entertaining playable experience.

Solution

Ovi Runner is a narrative-driven hockey runner game hosted on Sirena (Sports.ru's in-house creative studio platform) where each level represents a milestone from Ovechkin's NHL career. The game reimagines classic runner mechanics—dodge defenders, collect pucks, advance forward—with unique rules, power-ups, and boss challenges against legendary goalkeepers that vary per level. Players encounter embedded career statistics and achievement facts throughout gameplay, earning achievement cards for milestones. The experience includes onboarding, mini-challenges (shot timing, power play scenarios), a combo system with multipliers, checkpoint narrative scenes, and persistent leaderboards. Final screen displays personal stats and unlock endless mode for replay value. Winner mechanic: score 1,000 pucks to claim prizes from Ovechkin.
