Objective
Boost Juice created their first branded gamification app to engage core audiences and drive foot traffic to stores. With 12% of smartphone time spent on mobile gaming, the app targeted tech-savvy consumers to build brand awareness and loyalty through an entertaining gaming experience rather than traditional retail promotions.
Solution
Free the Fruit is a match-3 puzzle game where players swipe fruit to match three or more in a row and complete objectives by helping Mango-Man free fruit from Boost Juice stores. Players battle the Fruitnapper as they progress through levels, then face a strategic choice: keep their rescued fruit or blend it for a free prize. The game was deployed across iOS and Android platforms in Australia, offering Boost Juice vouchers as in-game rewards. Production partner Millipede (known for Dumb Ways to Die 2) developed the app, which later expanded to UK, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Results
The game ranked as #1 free game on the Australian App Store by day two of launch and achieved 300,000 downloads with a 4.5-star rating within six weeks. The campaign distributed up to $3 million in Boost Juice vouchers to players.
