Objective

Warner Bros. launched this campaign to celebrate the French release of Batman: Arkham Origins by creating a high-concept promotional experience that merged gameplay with interactive entertainment. The initiative positioned the brand's game launch through an innovative talent recruitment concept, blending video game promotion with entertainment spectacle to generate buzz and media coverage.

Solution

The campaign invited players to compete in a virtual job interview with The Joker character conducted via Google Hangouts. Users took a psychological test to qualify, with 250 selected profiles participating in live interviews over one week. The Joker was rendered in real-time using motion capture (Faceshift) and Unity 3D technology, streamed live through Google Hangouts to create an immersive experience. Ten finalists advanced to in-person interviews with the Joker and Black Mask characters. The winner received a €2,000 monthly contract to hunt down Batman in multiplayer gameplay.

Results

The campaign generated 16 hours of footage with over 250 live interviews, attracting 500,000+ viewers and achieving a 10% share rate. The campaign earned recognition at Eurobest 2014 and won a Bronze Award at the Clio Awards 2014.
