The EDF Light Games
Open the game

Objective
EDF, the official energy partner of the 2012 London Olympics, created an interactive campaign to amplify their Olympic sponsorship and reinforce their brand mission of powering the Games with low-carbon electricity. The campaign translated EDF's commitment to sustainability into entertainment by associating the brand with athletic excellence.
Solution
The EDF Light Games was a series of seven interactive Olympic sports experiences playable across web browsers, iPad, and touchscreen installations at the EDF Pavilion during the Games. Players controlled characters in kayaking, fencing, long jump, archery, cycling, rowing, and swimming events using an innovative light-tracking mechanism: a webcam monitored the glow of a computer mouse or mobile phone as input, creating an Olympic-first gesture-based control system. The experience was available in French and English, connecting the user's play to EDF's role in delivering the electricity that powered the Olympic venues.
