Objective

Peugeot introduced the new 208 model with an innovative approach combining entertainment and product experience. The brand created two VR experiences to showcase the vehicle's performance and design: a virtual test drive using Oculus Rift technology and an interactive film-game called 'Catch the Dragon' that gamified brand storytelling by blending the new TVC concept with interactive VR elements.

Solution

DPDK developed two complementary VR experiences. The virtual testdrive allowed users wearing an Oculus Rift headset to drive the Peugeot 208 through scenic French mountain roads using Leap Motion hand controls to navigate the experience. The 'Catch the Dragon' experience was a film-meets-game built on WebGL 3D technology with 260-degree video, playable on Google Cardboard, mobile, and desktop without requiring an app download. Both campaigns connected to a TV commercial featuring a dragon tattoo coming alive from the car, reinforcing the vehicle's energy and performance messaging.

Results

The 'Catch the Dragon' experience won FWA Site of the Day and FWA Mobile of the Day. The 360-degree video was shot in southern France.
