Solution

KION developed 'Tunnel: Border Shift,' a document verification simulator where players assume the role of Lieutenant Svetlana Suvorova, a customs officer at the Russian-Finnish border checkpoint. Inspired by Papers, Please mechanics, the game tasks players with verifying passports, visas, insurance documents, and manifests, making approval or denial decisions for border crossings. Gameplay features progressive difficulty across multiple shifts with salary earned through accurate decisions, which is allocated to a family budget system covering utilities, food, clothing, and housing—creating a meta-loop that rewards thoughtful play. The game served as a prequel narrative that enriches the series universe without spoiling plot details. The interactive experience was distributed exclusively on the KION platform, launching concurrent with the series premiere in December 2025.
