Objective

Kaspersky sought to increase cybersecurity awareness among enterprise IT teams and security professionals regarding ransomware threats and preparedness. The company aimed to demonstrate the real-world risks of ransomware attacks on mid-sized organizations and the critical importance of modern endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools in incident response.

Solution

Kaspersky developed an interactive web-based ransomware simulation game where players take on the role of a newly hired IT security manager responding to a real-time ransomware attack on a mid-size company. The game presents decision-driven scenarios where players must identify attack indicators, analyze telemetry, block malicious processes and network connections, manage account access, evaluate lateral movement, prioritize recovery from backups, and communicate incidents to leadership. The game tracks the sequence of player actions and provides immediate scoring, readiness assessment, and recommendations for best practices and preventive measures.
