Objective

Fantasy Movie League was founded to scale a unique prediction gaming concept in the film industry, leveraging Matthew Berry's established fantasy sports community. The game targeted movie fans and fantasy sports enthusiasts to build an alternative entertainment experience where players compete based on actual box office performance.

Solution

A weekly fantasy sports game where players select movies and compete based on real box office results. The experience combined Hollywood art-deco design aesthetics with interactive data insights. Built as a free-to-play community platform that allowed players to create private leagues and track performance across seasons. Designed by O'Kelly Design and Sly Trunk studio with gamification mechanics tied to actual movie performance metrics.

Results

3,000 registered users in launch week; 10,000+ active users within months; 1,700+ community leagues created; email engagement rates of 75% open rate and 45% click-through rate. Gained sufficient traction to attract advertiser interest.
